Teen Gothic

As someone who isn't able to get out to experience the club scene, works on an ambulance to support a family of four, and is too isolated to go to bigger cities this has been my "local scene" since I joined the sub. Most of the people I've talked to has been friendly and welcoming (it wouldn't be a proper scene without a few oddballs.) I've found some of my new favorite albums from you guys and I couldn't be more thankful for it.

I smile at every one of the "Please recommend bands" threads because I know someone is gonna mention either a band I haven't discovered yet or remind me of a gem I haven't spun in years. A few I've had to save so I don't forget to revisit, because they have too many recommendations for me to check them all out right now (damn this career….). After DJing since the mid-90s, there's still new bands to discover and it's like an endless gift. Especially with this time of year being so hard for so many, it's heartwarming to see the mutual respect and support here.

I wanted to thank who answered my previous questions and concerns on two different posts I made in this subreddit today, I asked about music reccomendations and the emarginating deaf people problem, I received amazing answers and I think that from now on I will look more often into the wiki part of a subreddit, something I never do and that's a me problem. I wanted quick answers to something I feel really attached and the mods gave them to me I can say immediately. Thank you and continue with the great moderating job, I could never do that this fast, now I will dig into the wiki.

Since I get to know about this subculture, I'm almost in good terms with myself. Its the first time in my life that I'm actually embracing myself and my likes. Its the first time I actually feel good with myself and my home (since I am able to decorate it the way I like) I was always called a psychopath and crazy for obsessing over anime characters like Jeff the Killer or Isaac Foster (there actually quite goth like… 🫣🖤) or for having a sweet spot for the dark, horror and obscure. It came mostly from my toxic mother and I believed her. I was always different from the others and never fit in (trust me. I'd tried as hard I could and tried to be as normal as possible. It only made me depressive.) I almost lost my mind and my life too. The music and subculture found me and saved me and is teaching me to embrace myself. Since I know about people who are just like me, I start to like myself. I still have a long way ahead but with this, It might be not as hard as I thought so.
